Weddings and such ...

A few months ago, YL asked me for a favour to create a JUST MARRIED car plate for her to place at the back of her wedding car. I've never done this before and was extremely up to the challenge. I made several rough sketches before we were both happy with the final choice. Yes, I actually draft out my designs before I actually implement them. Once an engineer, always an engineer I suppose. Heh.

My first draft was to draw a dinosaur couple (yes, YL has as sick a sense of humour as I do). My dinos looked like two T-Rex's, which I thought were pretty cute. However the bride wanted Nessie monsters instead since she has a rather odd fascination with Loch Ness and its famous inhabitant. I wasn't very into Nessie so I mucked up my drawing on purpose and made them look like lizards :p

So for the third draft, I ended up being conservative and drew the typical bride and groom couple. I call it my corny couple, because c'mon ... isn't this very common and boring? :p
In the end, I compromised by drawing the bride holding a teddy Nessie instead. And this made everyone happy :)
The sketch materialized into this ...
And last Saturday, my car plate was put to the test.
It didn't rain, and from what I hear, it didn't fall off the car either. I am happy :)
The end result, was pretty satisfying indeed. I snitched the picture below from YL's auntie's facebook album.
Did I mention again that I love making wedding cards?
Wedding cards are such fun to make. I was inspired to make one in occassion of YL's wedding for the simple reason that YL and J are such a cute couple. And lest I am accused of being pro-pink (most of the cards I make are pink, red or brown), I picked purple this time. :p
